Configure IR Ports

The IR Configuration tab is present only if you have selected an IR port in the IP Link® Tree window.  This tab is used to assign a driver to an IR port, and choose the device functions for the selected port.  Buttons for the selected functions will be displayed and usable in the GlobalViewer® interface.

To select a device driver for an IR port:

  1. Select an IR Port in the IP Link Tree window.  Option: you can right-click the IR port and give it a unique name.  Example at right: "IR Port 1" has been changed to "Sharp DVD."

  2. Select a device type, manufacturer, and version in the IR Driver Selection section (see below).

  3. Select a device driver.

  4. Click the Add Driver button.

The selected device driver is displayed in the Selected Driver(s) field (5).

To configure the selected IR port:

  1. Select the desired device driver in the Selected Driver(s) field.

The selected driver's IR driver function(s) are displayed in the Group (6) section.

  1. Select the desired device function(s) in the Group (left) section.

  2. Click the green Right Arrow button to move the selected function(s) to the GlobalViewer Web Group(s) (right) section (8).  These are the functions that will be displayed and usable in the GlobalViewer host interface.

  3. Optional: right-click the Group folder name, select Rename, and give the folder a unique name.

Note:   Before changes are viewable in GlobalViewer, you must perform the build and upload process in Global Configurator.

To view the configured IR port in the GlobalViewer interface:

  1. Select the GlobalViewer host device in the IP Link Tree window.

  2. Right-click on the GlobalViewer host device name and select Open GlobalViewer Webpage.

The GlobalViewer Web page is displayed (see below).

  1. Select the desired IR device port in the left column of the Web page.  In the example at right: Sharp DVD.

The buttons for the functions you selected during configuration are displayed in the Control window of the GlobalViewer interface (see #4 below).
