Configure Digital I/O

The DMP 64 provides six Digital I/O ports. The DSP Configurator software allows you to select a script from a list, then compile the script and place it onto the File Management system on the device. These scripts, while quite comprehensive, provide pre-configured sets of functions. For more advanced or custom scripts, please contact your Extron representative.

The default state of the Digital I/O is: all ports set to DI (digital input) and inactive ("Logic Hi" = +5VDC). Shorting the input sets it to active ("Logic Lo"). For every script that involves a DO (digital output), the script is presented twice to provide either a Logic Hi or a Logic Lo response to any action. The alternate script is designated as "Reverse DO."

To build a script and place  it onto the DMP 64 File Management system:

  1. From the Tools menu, click Configure Digital I/O, then select Build Digital I/O Configuration. This will bring up a dialog that allows you to select from a list of pre-configured Extron scripts.

  2. Select a script from the Select a Digital I/O Configuration section. The Event Description section describes the script and the way the Digital I/O ports will behave while that script is running.  When you have selected a script, click OK.

  3. A dialog box appears, informing you that the file has been successfully uploaded to your device.

NOTE: When performing this procedure in Emulate mode, the connection dialog will appear in between steps 2 and 3. The DSP Configurator will connect and then disconnect during the procedure, returning to Emulate mode when completed.

Should the script stop running for any reason, go to Tools | Configure Digital I/O, then select Reinitialize Digital I/O. This option is only available in Live mode.
