Configure Digital I/O

The DMP 64 provides six Digital I/O ports. DSP Configurator allows you to select a script from a list, then compile the script and place it onto the file management system on the device. These scripts, while quite comprehensive, provide preconfigured sets of functions. For more advanced or custom scripts, please contact your Extron representative.

The default state of the Digital I/O is:

  • All ports set to DI (digital input)

  • Inactive ("Logic Hi" = +5VDC)

Shorting the input sets it to active ("Logic Lo"). For every script that involves a DO (digital output), the script is presented twice to provide either a Logic Hi or a Logic Lo response to any action. The alternate script is designated as "Reverse DO."

Building a Script and Placing it onto the File Management System

  1. From the Tools menu, locate the Configure Digital I/O submenu and select Build Digital I/O Configuration. The Configure Digital I/O dialog box opens, listing preconfigured Extron scripts.

  2. In the Select a Digital I/O Configuration section, select a script. The Event Description section describes the script and the way the Digital I/O ports will behave while that script is running.

  3. Click OK to load the selected configuration. The Upload Complete dialog box opens, informing you that the file has been successfully uploaded to the device.

NOTE:  When you perform this procedure in Emulate mode, the Connection dialog box opens (after you click OK to load the configuration). DSP Configurator connects and disconnects during the procedure, returning to Emulate mode when completed.

  1. In the Upload Complete dialog box, click OK.

Reinitialize Digital I/O

NOTE:  The Reinitialize Digital I/O option is available only in Live mode.

Should the script stop running for any reason, you can reinitialize the Digital I/O configuration.

To do so:

From the Tools menu, locate the Configure Digital I/O submenu, and select Reinitialize Digital I/O.

Remove Digital I/O Configuration from Device

From the Tools menu, locate the Configure Digital I/O submenu, and select Remove Digital I/O Configuration from Device. A dialog box opens stating that the configuration has been removed successfully.
