Configure a Touchpanel

Adding a touchpanel

  1. In the IP Link® Tree window, select a touchpanel port.

  2. Select the Panel Settings tab.

  3. Click Add Touch Panel.  This opens the Add Touch Panel window.

  4. Select the model of the touchpanel from the Model drop-down list.

  5. In the Name/IP Address field, enter the IP address of the TouchLink™ Panel.

  6. In the Display Name field, enter a display name for the touchpanel.

  7. If the Basic button is clicked so that it reads Advanced, more setting fields appear.  Enter the applicable information such as the telnet port, administrator password, and/or user password.  You can also place a check mark in the Auto Configure IP Address check box so that the touchpanel's IP address will be automatically configured based on the entered MAC address.  If auto-configuring the IP address, be sure to click Set after entering the MAC address.  Auto-configuring the IP address is optional.

  8. Optional: select the Import/Apply layout check box.  A check mark appears signifying that the option is enabled.

  9. Click OK.  This updates the information under the Panel Settings tab.  You can now add a layout to be configured under the Panel Button Configuration tab.

Adding a layout

  1. Select the Pages tab and click Add Layout.  This opens a window listing the available layouts for the touchpanel.

  2. Click Import.  This opens an Import Touch Panel Layout window.

Note:   Import is not needed if the desired layout has already been imported.  If the desired layout is already available, follow steps 5 and 6.

  1. In the Import From section, select Touch Panel.

    1. Enter the name/IP address of the touchpanel in the Name/IP Address field.

    2. Enter the panel password if necessary.

In the Import From section, select Disk.

  1. In the Path to Config field, select Browse to locate the *.tgz file.

  1. Click OK.

  2. In the Available Layouts section, select the desired layout.

  3. Click OK.  This returns you to the Panel Button Configuration tab of GC 3.0 and the Pages tab is still open in the Touch Panel section.  The selected layout appears in the preview window.

Configuring button properties

  1. Select the Panel Button Configuration tab and in the Touch Panel section, select the Pages tab.  Select the desired page.

  2. Select the Button Properties tab and in the previewed page, select a button to be configured.

  3. In the Line 1 field, enter the top caption text (if desired).

  4. In the Line 2 field, enter the bottom caption text (if desired).

Note:  Captions appear in GlobalViewer® only and have no effect on the touchpanel.

  1. In the GlobalViewer® Tooltip field, enter the desired text.  The text displays in the GlobalViewer interface when the cursor is positioned over the button.

  2. From the Mode drop-down list, select a mode of operation for the button.  Refer to Setting button modes for more information.

  3.  From the Repeat Rate drop-down list, select a rate at which the button repeats its function if held down.

Configuring button operations

  1. Select the Panel Button Configuration tab and in the Touch Panel section, select the Pages tab.  Select the desired page.

  2. Select the Button Properties tab and in the previewed page, select a button to be configured.

  3. In the Button Operations section, select the tab of the desired operation type (Time Delay, Touch Panel, User-Defined, or State Control).  Refer to Setting button operations for more information.

  4. Under the selected tab, expand the function (click the + sign).

  5. Drag the desired operation to either the Press or Release section.

Use the green Right Arrows to move the operation to the respective Press or Release section.

Configuring button feedback

Note:  When a button is assigned to a group, button feedback no longer applies.

  1. Select the Pages tab and select the desired page.

  2. Select the Feedback tab and in the previewed page, select a button to be configured.

  3. From the Port drop-down list, select the port from which to get feedback.

  4. From the Command drop-down list, select the command from which to get status.

  5. From the On Condition drop-down list, select the condition to apply for the user-specified command.

  6. From the On Button State drop-down list, select the action to take when the button is in the On state.

  7. From the Off Button State drop-down list, select the action to take when the button is in the Off state.

  8. Click Save.
