Extron Introduces a New, Broadcast Quality Blackburst and Audio Generator

Anaheim, California (March 10, 2003) – Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce a new addition to the VersaTools® product line, the BBG 6 A Blackburst and Audio Generator. The BBG 6 A is designed for use in broadcast, production, and presentation environments requiring reference signals for genlocking video systems. It can also be used for system troubleshooting and alignment as it features a Color Bars and audio test signal generator. The BBG 6 A offers six broadcast quality, NTSC or PAL blackburst output signals, allowing a variety of video equipment to be genlocked to a common reference signal. Genlocking is the process of synchronizing the sync and chroma of all video devices. This allows the signals to be edited and composed to make a complete segment without any kind of distortion, glitch, or signal irregularity. The blackburst signal consists of three reference signal components: vertical sync, horizontal sync, and color burst. In addition to the blackburst signals, the first two outputs can also generate test patterns for NTSC SMPTE Color Bars or PAL full-field Color Bars, selectable via a DIP switch. The BBG 6 A also comes with a 1 kHz audio generator for balanced or unbalanced audio on captive screw connectors. In addition, the BBG 6 A is conveniently housed in a 1U high, quarter rack width metal enclosure, making it ideal for installation in small spaces or for portable field use.
